Assiniboine Credit Union
2659 Pembina Highway
Construction – 2008
Area – 6 400 sq. ft.
The Assiniboine Credit Union envisioned a healthy, stimulating environment for the users that acted as a benchmark for environmental responsibility. Many of the base materials remain exposed, resulting in a palette of polished concrete, natural wood and masonry.
The building envelope was enhanced through a number of initiatives including long life, recyclable cladding materials, increased insulation values, high performance windows and solar shading to limit summer heat gain and glare. Additional energy saving strategies were implemented through the building volume and orientation, geothermal heating, natural lighting and ventilation, and thermal mass.
